Calgary

Calgary, the centre of Canada’s oil industry, is steeped in the western culture that earned it the nickname “Cowtown”.  In July, the city proudly hosts the annual Calgary Stampede, a massive rodeo and festival that rose from earlier farming exhibitions.

CJE is proud to come to fascinating Calgary where we pay tribute to Canada 150 with a nine-panel Exhibition showcasing almost 250 years of contributions by the Canadian Jewish community to Canadian society – from Human Rights and Architecture to Sports and the Arts. The Calgary exhibit includes a special panel about Smithbilt Hats recognizing the creator of Calgary’s iconic white cowboy hat — Morris Schumiatcher.
