Tel Aviv, Israel

Tel Aviv (תל אביב), the second largest city in Israel (after Jerusalem) and boasting the largest metropolitan area, is on the Mediterranean coast about 60 km north-west of Jerusalem and some 100 km south of Haifa. The official name is Tel Aviv-Yafo (תל אביב-יפו) reflecting the fact that the city has grown beside (and absorbed) the ancient port city of Yafo(Jaffa) as well as many neighboring cities. Tel Aviv is known as the most liberal city in Israel. Museums include Beit Hatfutsot, whose multimedia exhibits illustrate the history of Jewish communities worldwide. The Eretz Israel Museum covers the country’s archaeology, folklore and crafts, and features an on-site excavation of 12th-century-B.C. ruins.

CJE is proud to come to incomparable Israel where we pay tribute to Canada 150 with a nine-panel Exhibition showcasing almost 250 years of contributions by the Canadian Jewish community to Canadian society – from Human Rights and Architecture to Sports and the Arts.
